Hollison has developed patented technology to continuously sample dry goods such as grain, peanuts, coffee beans, etc., for the detection of a wide range of biological, chemical and radiological contaminants. Our unique approach enables us to continuously sample large batches of raw materials without the need to perform traditional “grab sampling,” ensuring continuous sampling. Final food items, as well as intermediates, such as breakfast cereals and nuts, can also be sampled with this breakthrough technology.

The Hollison sampling technology involves a two step process:

  • Collection
  • Sample preparation

The collection is a continuous process allowing the specific portion of the bulk material to be collected that contains the contaminants. This portion of the bulk material contains bacteria or other biological material such as viruses or molds.

The collected fraction is then subjected to the sample preparation stage where the sample is extracted, pre-concentrated or manipulated so the concentration, volume or form is compatible with the detection process.

Hollison is also capable of handing liquid samples such as wash solutions and other liquid based materials such as beverages. In addition Hollison is developing collection and sampling technology to enable the routine continuous testing of meat, poultry and produce.
